Motorcycle Marketplace Safety
Practical safety guidance for buying and selling used motorcycles through Bikes Under Book Value.
Pre-launch business draft dated August 29, 2026. Obtain legal review and add the operating company/contact details before launch.
Meet and inspect safely
Meet in a public, well-lit place or at a reputable motorcycle shop. Bring another person when possible. Never enter an unfamiliar private location alone.
Inspect the VIN, title, seller identification, service records, tires, brakes, frame, electrical system, and signs of crash or flood damage. Consider paying a qualified shop for a pre-purchase inspection.
Verify ownership and title
Confirm that the VIN on the motorcycle matches the ownership document. Review the required clean, salvage, missing-title, or not-titled disclosure, then verify it independently with the relevant state agency.
Do not assume a custom, off-road, bill-of-sale, or missing-title motorcycle can be registered for road use in your state.
Payments and scams
Do not send gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, deposits, or verification fees to someone you have not independently verified. Never share a one-time login or payment code.
Bikes Under Book Value does not hold purchase funds, guarantee a motorcycle, or certify a seller. Report suspicious listings or messages immediately.
